Does the security system really deter theft?
I did the RadioShack siren on my 2008 Night Train I had. It had the security, but didn't have the siren. Here is the thread I used, I'm sure it's different for different makes, but it will give you an idea. It was a very simple install.

Van conversions were big targets for thieves in the 80s and 90s. I ran a conversion shop and repaired dozens of vans that had been broken into and ripped apart for valuable stuff like $85 tvs or video players.
Never did I have to repair a van that had a working alarm on it. The most common theft was at public parking lots. The thieves would bang on the vehicle to see if an alarm was installed and if the vehicle screamed at them they'd just walk away.
What do you think they'd do if your bike screamed at them?

LoJack is limited in their coverage. From their website:
"LoJack operates in areas of the country with the greatest population density, highest number of new vehicle sales and greatest incidents of vehicle theft. LoJack is currently operable in 28 states and the District of Columbia, as well as more than 30 countries throughout North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. "
Last I looked, we've got fifty states. Anyone that lives in a covered area, but travels, might drive right out of your coverage area.
