Default Trade Question

I have a 2007 SuperGlide. My local dealer has a 2006 ElectraGlide Classic with 25,000 miles, looks to be in excellent condition, and he'll give me a one year warranty on it. He wants $12,600 for it, or my bike and $6,000 OTD. What do you think? Do the 2006 engines have any problems, and is that mileage something to be concerned with? Thanks!

Sell your bike privately. That is what I think.

No kidding. Your dealer isn't doing you any favors at all. You can sell your bike yourself at a fire sale price and still clear 3 or 4 grand more than he's offering you. Have the dealer do a pass through on the paperwork, and you'll save on sales tax, as well. Unless your bike is rough and needs some work, you're better off selling privately for sure.

I would have them at least check the cam chain tensioners, and while they are at it, put in the hydraulic conversion kit. You only know what you want to take for your bike, and give for there's. I would at least lower the deal to your liking or walk.

Really? Why? BTW, he's giving me (supposedly) $7500 for my bike, which I thought was way low, but trying to sell a bike (myself) around my area is next to impossible right now.

I think your math is off. From your original post it looks like he is giving you $6,600 for your bike. I agree with trying to sell it yourself.

Thumbs up

Its about as good a deal as you are going to get at a dealer. He is asking a reasonable price for his and will want to sell yours for the same. It is the profit you are going to have to pay for. With as hard to sell used bikes as it can be it may be worth it for you, may not be the best deal. But if you can afford it and want a bagger now , you are giving up a couple of grand. SO what go for it and ride the bike you want. Like is short.

Well, the bike was $12,600, then after all the tax, title, $60 for the one year warranty (which I thought was free), it was about $13,600.
