This is a long shot but it worked in recovering my brand new ATV stolen. I went to the area dealer/s and advised them what make model I had and advised if anyone came in to order an ignition system for that model to get ID info including vehicle and tag.
They did have someone come in and order... and with the vehicle information I was able to nab the A$$XXXX. It was still on the trailer. I know they can buy from various sources but crooks are usually lazy and will go to a local dealer. Beats sitting around and doing nothing. Good luck!
Oh all of the dealers in the area, know the bike , have pics , and vin# and plate number, the dealers won't sell an ignition switch without a title or registration in hand , in my area anyway.
I agree with the above post about checking with Garmin. Also, make sure to document what else was stolen. About 15 years ago my truck was stolen with my wallet inside. About a month after the theft I got some late fee notices from a movie rental place. Turns out the dude who stole it had it in his garage. His teenage son decided to steal the Blockbuster card to rent some movies and keep them. Police went and talked to the kid and eventually were able to track the truck to the Dad. The truck had been repainted and was at another family members house in a different city, but I got it back with a pretty decent new paint job. Don't give up hope until the insurance money comes through.

Don't know if it will help one bit but my son-in-law's sister and her husband are both IMPD and motorcyclist (although not with the department). I will forward on to them.......never know, maybe they have some inside scoop on investigations on a large problem in the area?
Doubtful but never know until you ask I guess. I hate this for you, I know how it feels to have something of value stolen and it takes awhile to get over the anger and frustration.
