That sux big time....and a 100th. too. I'll keep an eye out at the events in Ky. I have an 03' Heritage so I usually like to check out the Anniversary models. Never know how goofy crooks can be. I know of 2 bikes that were stolen from 2 different buds and both happened to come across them unmolested. Wishing you the best.
People don't steal Harleys to joy ride around town like they would a dirt bike...or bicycle. This bike is long gone...most likely stripped or sold out of country. Sorry to hear this happened and hope things go well with insurance company
Man, that sucks. Sorry to hear. Yeah, Im only an hour south of Indy and there was a lot of bike things going on. There was the Riley Ride, Abate Camping and tent in Gas City, AMA Flat Track in Gas City. Had to be a pro, I dont think anyone can just steal a bike without a trace. I will keep an eye out for anything. Good luck!
Sorry Man! I absolutely DESPISE thieves!!! If I caught em in the act I don't know what I'd do??
But it may best to move on? I don't know how long the insurance co. needs to write it off, but i think you should probably start with them ASAP. May salvage the riding season on a new one?
One thing I often wonder, with some of the Ebay auctions, how many times someones selling stolen goods? Some seem pretty suspicious.
i had one stolen about 10 years ago, fought with the insurance company, lost about 3000$ my home owners paid for contents in the bags ,leathers and such, mine was locked and secured,we think they pulled up in a truck or van, four guys and 2 long poles stuck them thru the wheels and heeved it into the veh and gone ,2 or 3 minutes good luck .it took 30 days for the insurance to pay off ,they had to wait to make sure it wasnt found, and that is 30 days .im going to indy this week.
We were at Bike Week at Myrtle Beach NC about 7 years ago and several bikes were stolen. A man had two brand newk dressers loaded on a trailer, but LAYING DOWN ON THEIR SIDES! He was going North up I-40 like that. A NC State Trooper (who was a bike owner) saw it, and new something wasn't right. I mean, come on, who would lay a bike over and scratch it up? Anyway, he pulled the dude over, and both the bikes were hotter than the coastal residents on the Gulf Coast are right now.
I hope they find your bike, IF you want it found. And I hope it isn't fubared. Otherwise, work on that insurance claim adjuster.
I wish that thieves would get more time than they get. The laws are so far out of proportion, it encourages people to steal. Throw them in jail for several years for each theft. That might get the SOB's attention. Nothing else will.
