2 mechanical issues - requiring your help
Good morning, guys.
I own a '03 FLHT, carb. (mikuni), TC88 that had a staged 2 upgrade done on it when it was new.
I have had my share of starter issues, but this week-end two more mechanical issues raised their ugly heads.
The first issue is that there is, for want of a better way of decribing it, a moderate to high RPM "whine" coming from the motor. I first thought that the GPS was picking up the ignition firing and putting it into the speaker system, but that wasn't the case; turned both the GPS and stereo off and it didn't go away. The "whine" is directly related to the RPM as it diminishes with speed, gear shifting, or when the clutch is pulled in. It also gets extremely loud after riding for a full day. Your thoughts?
The second issue has a far more "costly" sound. When the motor is turn off; by either method, about 50% of the time there is a sharp "metallic" sound that sounds as if something is not engaging properly (gears?). I have no idea what the last thing that happens when you turn your motor of; but this sound sure sounds as if it could be expensive. I have no idea if it could be interrelated with the first issue.
There is little more information that I can provide. I sure do appreciate any and all thoughts, opinions, advice.
