Crashed my 07 FLHTC
Glad to hear your on the mend. Hate to hear about the new scoot and especially about you.
As someone who has taken a spill, I told myself I would never ride again without a jacket. Yesterday I was out for a nice 160 mile ride upstate in 91 degree weather. In a t-shirt and with a helmet, but my mesh body armor jacket was in the saddlebag.........
Thank you for the reminder
Wishing you a speedy recovery
Glad to see a local guy is doing OK. Ouch that hurt. Where was your accident???
I work in Neenah and live in Appleton and have had similar close calls up North but haven't dumped her (except for in the garage [:@])
Almost scraped the barriers on 441 at 70 mph on the Menasha curve one week after I got the scoot. That would have been bye bye. Take it slow since.
Armor: even when it is 95F, I'm wearing a jacket and helmut and get lots of looks. How many do you see doing that in the Valley on a warm summer day - ONE - now two.
Most EVERYONE here in this area rides with a T-shirt and a bandana - some even topless (men that is -
) Get well soon.

I called my wife in to read your story and she interrupted me and ask why I was writing about my crash of so long ago. Same story but without the 4 x 4 post and broken ribs, just bruised. I was riding with 5 friends, my son was directly behind me when I hit the gravel and flipped just like you. After the crash he told me that going through his head was, (look at dad flying backwards through the air). Then he thought, hey, dad is going to survive the crash but I'm right on him and going to run over him. How will I tell mom dad crashed and survived, but I ran over him and killed him. Luckily for both of us, he was able to avoid hitting me and did so with out going down himself. After landing on my back and sliding 20 feet, I too jumped up to get my bike that had flipped in the air came down and landed on it's right front side and slid into the hill. One of the friends I was riding with (Young man in his 30's who has a very bad case of arthritis) saw me heading to the bike and was afraid I was injured more than I was. He ran over to my bike and picked it up before I could get to it. My bike was heavily damaged (about $5,200.00) but was able to ride it 30 miles to home. This happened to me on my 1991 Heritage in June of 92. We were able to get the bike fixed taped up my ribs and left for 2 weeks and 5,600 miles to Sturgis and back that year. Time has healed all, but the memory of that crash will be with me the rest of my life. You too will get through this just, remember to get back on and ride as soon as your scoot is fixed and ready.
Glad you too made it through this.
Paul
