Default Short Guy Bars

Hi all. I'm on an 09 EGC and I stand at 5' 7" on a good day. Done a couple tweaks to get the bike more comfortable (floorboard extensions and grip leather to fatten them up).

But the one thing that's killing me is the stock handlebar position. I have to reach forward to get it and it makes my back ache w/in 20 minutes every time. Best I can tell I need it pulled back at least 2 inches to be comfy. I haven't even bothered putting the backrest in because right now I wouldn't be able to use it I'm leaning forward so much.

Anyone have some suggestions on replacement bars for us short guys? I know I don't want ape hangers but that's about it ...

There is a bar near the University of Minnesota called Stub and Herbs...that was a short guy bar. haha

Seriously, not sure what bike you have but I put on the Heritage bars on my RK and they are tilted back a little towards me, and that solved the same problem. Plus no new cables, wires etc. were required.

The moco makes a bar for your EGC that gives you 2" more pull back than stock. I have no experience with them, but i have read threads that some don't like the wrist position. go to the dealership and put your hands on some and see if you like them, just don't let them sell you on the notion that you have to replace all the cables. You can swap them with just changing the clutch cable.

I am the same height and installed the Touring Pullback Handlebar along with the longer clutch cable, made a nice difference. And SH57 is correct, you do not have to change the brake lines or the throttle cables. The wrist position is slightly different from stock but it never bothered me a bit.

I use the stainless HD touring pullbacks. I did need to replace my cables and brake tubes. Riding position is very comfortable, from a good leaned back position I can easily rest my hand on the bar. But..the hand position if you are a gripper is a little awkward. You have to turn your hands out towards your pinkie a little. I dont have this problem, cause Im not a gripper, I just rest the riding hand on top of the grip. Price was right too, esp considering they are stainless.
