I have an 08 FLHX with a running problem. The problem started about 3000 miles ago, and was intermittant, but now is consistant. The bike runs good upon start up and for the first few miles while still cold. Once up to operating temp, and in the closed loop operating band (cruising), it starts running rough, like it has a partially fouled plug. The condition gets worse the longer I run at a steady speed, to a point where it seems to peaks out. If I shut the bike down for 15-20 minutes and restart, it goes away, at least for a while. It is so bad that I am unable to comfortably run sixth gear, (or fifth gear) on the highway 65-70 mph. I have had it to the dealer/dealers four times now and the refuse to acknowledge the problem. The last time I had it in, it had actually went into parade mode and was overheating after riding 20 miles on the highway, no traffic or idling. They still were not able to diagnose or supposedly re-create the problem. The bike does this at any speed while in closed loop operation.
I could really use some good help here guys! Thanks in advance.
I have done that, the guy has no feeling in his feet and hands. They had me ride their rental FLHX, to compare. I came back and said no comparison what so ever, their bike is smooth. It did no good!
I havn`t checked for a vacume leak, but that can be done easily. The bike is completely stock. I am planning on doing a tuner, pipes, and an air cleaner, but would like to figure out this issue first if possible. I would hate to throw a bunch of parts on the bike and still have a problem.
