Default Dead Ultra Classic

A few days ago I gave the New Ultra Classic (2 months old) a quick wash job and rode to town to visit my sister. I was there about 15 minutes, went to leave and turned on the switch hit the start button and nothing. the warning lights and the odometer were flickering and then the odometer displayed "BUS ERR" . Called dealer they said OhOO and told me to call HOG road service and have it towed to them. Later that day they told me it had a shorted fuse and to come pick it up. I need to find out more about what happened to this thing and why it happened. I was not happy about having a flat bed truck hauling my new motorcycle, and i am not real happy with my dealer right now.

When you washed it did you remove anything? I always remove my saddlebags and seat. Then I put a trash bag over the ECM under the seat. I have washed my bike lots of times with no issues. And the dealer said it was a "shorted fuse". A fuse is a short so what the hell does that mean.

Right after I got my Ultra I rode in a pretty good rain storm and the radio quit. Turned out it was a BAD fuse, as it was not blown. Like KC said, a fuse is technically a short so that does not make sense. I was worried, because I ride rain or shine, but no more issues. Hope you have the same luck.

I did not remove anything it was a quicky wash, and just hosed it down. and a fuse is the weak link in the circuit to protect the wireing and componets in a circuit it is not a short. if you get a short in a circuit (current going to ground) the fuse is suppoued to blow to open the circuit. I am going to go to the dealer on Tuesday to try to get more info.

Sounds like a pretty crappy dealer to me. Won't come pick up a 2 mo old bike? That IS crappy.

What's their name in case I'm in Illinois I can be sure to avoid them like the plague.

A "short" is a low resistance circuit. Doesn't have to be to ground. A working fuse is a short circuit.
