See post #1 on the quarter round. I didn't use it though. I siliconed mine to the verticle saddlebag supports. They kinda fit right in the groove of the support. I think they are much brighter looking strait on at them versus a side view if you use the quarter round. Just my opinion.

You have any pictures of yours mounted up? full size?
I installed the plasma rods on my bike yesterday. At first, I installed the rods using the approach as described in post #1. I went to Home Depot, bought the 3/4 round moulding pieces, trimmed them to size, and mounted the moldings to the bike using the red 3M tape. And I mounted the rods sideways as the post says.
I rode the bike around during the day today to see how bright these lights are in the sun. I didn't like them, because they are not bright enough. So I decided to remount the rods by having them face straight back -- as the manufacturer said to do. Much better now. With the light facing straight back as it's designed, I get a wider beam of light than when the rods were sideways. And, of course, I get brighter lights.
Definitely brighter when mounted strait on as per mfg. Instructions. They are bright when viewed from the side but definitely are brightest when viewed straight on.
Although it may be a little brighter straight on, I mounted mine using the 3/4 round technique under the edge of the facia as they OP did, I didnt want to get into epoxying anything, plus if I ever want to remove it, there wont be any epoxy on any body or trim parts or repainting. Its plenty bright for me this way, and my buddies that have ridden behind me say adding the plasma rods makes a big difference, even in daylight.
