Default cd player intermittent problem

intermittently my cd player will play a song then in the middle it will give alot of static as if a radio was not tuned properly. I can still hear the song but with static. I usually have to skip to the next song or two or in some cases turn it off to recover. ITs not the song it happens at random times with random cd's. Now granted these are copied cds could that be it.anyone else having problems..07 SG

I thought I was having a similar problem then I realized it was the cb breaking in and muting the cd.

You could try to re-burn the CD's at your burner's slowest speed.

Block error rates are usually highest at the slowest speeds. Usually 25-33% of a drive's rated speed is the "sweet spot" as far as data accuracy/BLER is concerned.

It really hasn't been a good idea to burn at the slowest speeds since drives were 2-4x. Of course, that was in the sweet spot back then also...

@ Willetts - Could be the converter chip (not good news), but it could be as simple as dirty optics. See if you can dig up a playable cleaning disc. Wet (isopropyl on felt strip) works best, but most the the MFG's suggest the dry 'eyelash' looking thing - Which 'sort of' works okay.
