Default Riding Shades and Goggles

As far as Shades and goggles..I didn't find much on search. What do you guys mostly wear? Shades? Goggles? or..just helmet w/shield. I'd be interested in knowing what type/brand you guys have found are best for 1.) vision, 2.) fogging, 3.) driving conditions. I have some cheap glasses with the foam insert, three different color lenses. They work ok, but. they state they dont fog.. But they do. I'll buy more expensive if they are worth it. But I really dont want something real expensive and I just end up loosing them.

Thanks for the input

I have never found a set that I didn't have to re-treat with anti-fog. Most MC shops sell it for about $5 a bottle. As far as a good set of shades/goggles, I like WileyX. $50+.

Default Panoptix

I have had great success with Panoptix-I have had the same pair for about 5 years. No issues. They are not inexpensive but worth the cost IMO. Good luck-

I have probably three different sets of Wiley-X's. And though I like them and will put them on if I think I am going to hit rain; it's my Oakley M Frames that I always go back to. Use to get a bit of rattling in my glasses from the wind coming up the chest on my RG. But, since I put the Hogg Chopps on, the buffeting from underneath has stopped. I think the Oakley's are the clearest and offer most unobstructed view, especially to the sides.

Was using Wiley-X's with the half helmet.

Since I bought the HJC IS33 with the retractable sun visor built in I haven't used the Wiley's but once or twice.

Panoptx (now 7Eye). Ridiculously expensive if you pay full price. However . . . if you go to there website they're clearancing the Panoptx branded eyewear for upto 60% off.

I personally like the Diablos but you need to know what size (different styles fit differently). One of the best and unique? things about the Panoptx is that the foam "eye cup" can be swapped out. On earlier versions - and other brands, once it's worn out the glasses are toast.

+1 on the Panoptix. I've had my set for 8yrs still going strong. It was called convertible I beleive as there is a detachable foam cup frame although I never detached as it's great for keeping dust, pollen etc out of eyes. Panoptix got bought out and it's now 7Eye with still same type line up.

Something like that - as best I can tell they (Panoptx) actually just re branded in an attempt to go up market - if they weren't upmarket enough already . . .

I've had occasion to deal directly with this company and while I love their product I'm not crazy about their personnel. It seems customer service has taken a back seat and at least one of the Harley dealers in my area is giving them the shaft.

Having said that we own 7 pairs (5 of my own - 1 clear, remaining tinted and 2 for my wife) and I've used up 2 pairs.

I hear yea Dave. Couple years ago my foam insert was getting ragged. Although I didn't buy(internet) them at my local HD dealer I know one of the gals in clothing and she said the rep comes in every so often and would try and get me new foam insert. I figured I'd never hear another word but about 1 month later she called me said she had new insert. I went to the shop to pick it up and she said rep gave it too her so I was a very happy camper!

PS The HD girl was a lot prettier than me

I have a real nice pair of shades I purchased for $12, that I wearn during the day when riding. I have another nice pair of DeWalt Safety Glasses which I wear at night. Don't care for the expensive stuff. When I'm on a longer ride, I'll wear my Harley half helmet and face shield for the protection along with which ever pair of shades/glasses is appropriate.

I'd have to say that most of the shades/goggles intended for riding are a bit clumsy, and don't allow use of your peripheral vision. The foam inserts you see on most, keep them from having a good air flow which is the main cause of fogging up.

My suggestion would be to get a nice pair of riding glasses/goggles which you really think looks good on you. Then put them in the bag, and get a couple pair of cheap ones for riding. You won't have to worry about losing them on a ride at 80+mph, and you can swap them out when you reach your destination, so that the ladies are still impressed with your sense of fashion...
