Default Rush Mufflers

I made a post in a thread a couple days ago and commented on a pinging coming from one of my Rush Slip-ons. Today I received a PM from Ryan at RUSH offering a solution to the pinging and warranty help if required. Now that's what I call service!!! Just wanted to publicly thank Ryan and Rush for a great product and graet service!!!

Hmmmmm, I've been running the 2" baffles in Rush slip-ons
for 25k miles and haven't noticed any pinging......
Can you fill us in on the cause and remedy ???

Yes, Rush has superb customer service......Ryan helped me
without batting an eye or asking any questions.

Rush has outstanding customer service, they replaced my four year old mufflers for free after one split at the front end. I noticed the newer units are bolted on both ends of the baffle and if you have the older ones they are only fastened at the rear. Maybe the front of the baffle is loose and pinging around ???

2yrs & 30K miles on my Rush equipped RG. No trouble and from what I've seen with there warranty service, Rush is the only exhaust I will buy.

Default ping sound

The cause of the noise is from the front of the baffle. If your mufflers only have the rear bolt holding in the baffle in I will explain how to fix. The front of the baffle "seats" itself into the front of the muffler. This is at the transition area from the inlet to the 3.5" shell. If the baffle backs out just a little bit you will notice an occasional ping. If the baffle really comes loose it will rattle around inside the shell.
Here is the fix... Pull out the baffle. On the inlet side you will notice slots in the baffle cup. These allow the cup to compress into the transition area of the shell. Gently and slightly expand the cup. Insert the baffle back into the shell, making sure to line up the slot in the baffle with the bolt hole in the shell. Once it is snug to the front of the muffler, tap it in so the front baffle cup will seat in the the shell. An easy way to do this is to use a small piece of wood, place it against the bar on the baffle and tap with a hammer. Secure the bolt, a bit of loctite will also help. Fire up your bike and check for any unwanted noise. Take a ride going through the rpm range, sometimes if its just slightly loose it will only rattle at specific rpms. Hope this helps! If you need any further assistance you can always PM us or call and speak with a tech.
