Ok, I'm in the middle of changing out my black buttons to chrome ones on my 2005 Road King Classic. When I took the throttle side apart a small copper "v" shaped piece fell out along with a hexagonal steel part that looks like the head to a small bolt. This steel part looks like it had some glue on it and thought it might have been glued to the brake switch?Everything is going back together fine but I'm at a loss as to where exactly the copper clip is supposed to go and why someone would have glued the hex shaped part and where it might have come from. Anyone that can give me a hint I would appreciate it.
update: I tracked down the previous owner and the hex part was indeed glued to the brake light switch because it would stay on all the time without it. Pretty common problem I guess. Still at a loss for where the copper clip goes. The shop manual and the instuction both show it in a diagram but not where it exactly goes.

The copper clip goes behind the brake switch to hold it tight. My manual shows exactly where it goes. Without the clip, the switch will be loose and your brake light will stay on all the time.

Makes sense. Ok thanks for the info! Now I can put the thing back together. Much more difficult install than I expected....
I'm in the middle of an install and broke the start switch and off run caps during install. Argh!! Any one have these as extras from their dual set installs? Be interested un purchasing leftovers rather than another full set. Wasn't too bad other that the 2 broken caps ....think it was because it was cold out when I tried to load 'em. Definetly recommed having em warmed up to keep em flexible.
Is ther supposed to be one of those copper clips behind the clutch switch?? Suppose it might be only on models with CC?? Otherwise not sure why ya need a clutch switch
Not that I remember. It's mainly used to keep the brake switch in place. Be careful putting it back together. You don't want to break your brake switch.
Then you'll be in for some serious fun.
If you're going to be doing your own mods, I suggest a service manual.
