I did an aftermarket set on mine and it still wasn't that hard.

What's the hard part, changing the switches or the housing?
I'm going with chrome housing and black switches.

Yes I would do it again, but only in the winter. In the winter there's no preasure to get it done. Get a manual, it's a big help. soak the switch covers in hot water to make them more pliable.

If you decide to do it in the winter, it's a good time to change out the bars, if you're so inclined.
Wild Ones 1 1/4" chubby bars are popular. when I did my Ultra's switches and bars, I ran all the wires in the bars for a nice clean look.
Well worth the effort IMO.

Just did mine. Getting the Stereo and Cruise buttons on was a PITA until I heated the buttons a little with my heat gun. Then went right on after that.

Just finished adding the switches. It is a PIA. Not technically difficult, just tough because of space and all of the small parts. Make careful note of how the wires are arranged inside the housing before you tear into itand start removing the switches. It will make it much easier to get back together. Make sure you have a clean floor and lots of light. Clutch side is easy. On the throttle side slice the plastic cover on the wiring harness up about 1 inch. It will make getting the turn signal button out and back in much easier.
