The closest dealer to me charges $340.00 for the complete install.

I did mine when I changed bars. It takes some time, but I would not call it all that difficult. Only problem I had was I fried my fuel manager somehow. Never did find a pinched or broken wire. Just when I got it all put back together it would only run on one cylinder. After about a day of searching for a broken wire, I finally took the fuel processor off and it ran perfectly. That one is in the trash and now I'm running a new PCIII.

My best advice is DISCONNECT THE BATTERY OR PULL THE MAIN FUSE OR BOTH, which I didn't. Live and learn.

In a heart beat. I love the chrome controls and would never pay the labor to do it. I's not that hard at all. I have done them on the last 3 Harley's I have owned. Most recently I changed them out when putting new bars on my SG.

Sorry to disagree with a few but this is a no beer job if want it done right. You bought the Harley kit so everything should fit perfect, I had used aftermarket one in the past and some fit real bad.

I would rather take off the entire front end than do those damn switch covers again. What a PITA, especially the springs. Now, would I do it again...of course just for satisfaction and save a buck.

I have done it on 95, 02, 07, 08, and 09 Road Kings. Including INTERNAL wiring for heated grips on a couple of them. I enjoy doing it and would not hesitate to do another.

I took the easy way out. When i bought the chrome switches, I showed the package to my son who readily asked if He could install them for Me. I said go for it. That was a 18 mo. ago. No problems at all and My Son is still complaining about what a b@*&$ it was to install them. LOL

Default Chrome switch covers

So .... although it sounds like it's a much fun as getting a root canal it is doable and the concensus is that HD set is the one to go with (not an aftermarket set)???
