new garmin is a 665 it has xm like the 550 but touch screen like the 600. Harley does not have this model yet. Garmin has a $100 rebate online good till 7-4-10 but not good at amazon and some other places. I know the harley models dont have mounts and are more expensive but if anyone knows when they might get it or the best deal on a 665 post it. thanks, Davis
I've had a Tom-Tom ryder II for almost 2 years now and love it. It comes with the ram mount, blue tooth speakers and mike for the helmet and computor hook-up. I have made two cross country trips and many more short (under 2,000 mi ) trips with no problems. The tom-tom is also almost half price of a Garmin or Zumo.
Stick with Garmin, many options to choose from , many price ranges and mounting options.
If you can, look at the Zumo 660. Designed for motorcycles, weatherproof, and stores MP3's. I have one and it works great. Any questions feel free to ask.
I just installed my Garmin Nuvi 550 three weeks ago. Easy to wire in and mount. I mounted it directly in front of me on the bars so I don't have to look away from the road too much to look at it and it is protected by the windshield so it doesn't get "buggy".
It cost only $250 with everything I needed to mount it and wire it in to the bike and it came with everything I needed to use in my truck. I am very happy with it.
iPhone with navigon navigation mounted to the handlebars with a ram mount, got my mp3s, nav and telephone (blue toothed to my helmet) all in one nice and neat package
HD has the Road Tech Zumo 550, same unit I use. It is the HD version of the Garmin Zumo 550. The Road Tech is still listed on the HD website. The Road Tech has a touch screen and window/sound buttons on the side panel, SD card slot and MP3 player and XM. The XM sounds good and I use the XM about 99% of the time now.
I've never owned or even used one but I'm thinking this may be the time. Can anyone tell me what to look for and what's the most popular for bikes? Are there any models/brands I should avoid?
Zumo 550 from HD, got about 8 bills tied up in it including the bar mount
