My first GPS was a Garmin eMap with no color, small size memory (128M), no 3D, and was not waterproof. Not too good. My next GPS was a Garmin Streetpilot III which I left on the bike all of time. It was waterproof (a big plus) but, again, was memory size limited to 256M, and no 3D. My current GPS is a Garmin zumo 660 (aka Road Tech) which is waterproof, has all of the detailed (down to street level) maps already installed and, among other added features, does 3D. I have GPSs and XM built-in in both cars, so there is no reason to move the GPS between the cars and the motorcycle. I also have XM on the motorcycle without the GPS, so I don't need a GPS like the zumo 550 or 665.

I am a GPS bigot. I did a 2400 miles, 14 state run through New England when I had the Streetpilot III and never once referred to a paper map - GPS all the way.

I have used a Zumo 550 for the last 3 years and it has never let me down, went all the way to the Arctic Circle and back in 2008.

One poster said he had a 760. As far as I can tell, he is refrerring to the Garmin nuvi 760 which is not waterproof (big mistake for use on a motorcycle).

I have the HD 660. I love it's ease of programming and MP3. The blutooth mike does not work very good and callers cannot understand you.

I have a garmin 255w that I use in the car and on the bike. Its not waterproof, but it has worked well for me. Just need to take a little care with rain etc. The mount that I use I got off Ebay for $7, works great. For the price I can go through 3 or four of these for the price of one zumo. I also got a hard wire off ebay and wired it to the extra wire on the headlight.

Just bought a Garmin Zumo 765 for the 09 UC--freshly discontinued in Australia and not many units left. I intend to just use the fuel door lid to mount it on--safety wired with a zip tie just in case.
I don't need to see it, just want to hear where to go and with spoken street names should be fine.

It plays MP3s through the built in FM transmitter, or through line out hard wire into the aux port on the HK radio and will interrupt music to announce directions, then starty playing music again.

I just keep a ziploc baggie handy to cover it over the mount in case of rain.
