I can't believe what folks pay for these things. I have been shopping and no way am I paying $400+ for one. No need for waterproof. If it rains, I can handle not using a GPS. Do many use the "route-planning" feature that some of these have? Seems like for poker-runs and other rallies it would be the feature most important to me. I am not interested in "shortest route or best gas mileage". I noticed no one told the OP about that feature and what models support it.

I use a Zumo 550, I had a couple of other Nuvi's ant streetpilots, but I really like the Zumo, It has bluetooth, XM music and XM weather and traffic alerts, plays mp3's is waterproof, does routs and keeps a log of the route you drove, has a bike and car mount, all the wire connections are in the mount and it unsnaps from the mount quickly. Once you get used to a GPS you won't want to travel without one. you can turn down any road you want to explore and it will tell you how to get to where ever it is your going. The find Gas has saved my butt a couple of times

I do miss the route planning feature on the 255W. I can use the HOG Ride Planner to upload waypoints and then I just have to build the route in the GPS by calling up the waypoints. I'd like to look at Zumo 450's as they decrease in price on ebay.

Zumo 550.....I don't like paying either but this thing was built for a bike by the people who know GPS's and the people who know bikes. You can't beat this thing.......it's the best in my opinion. Love it.

It came with EVERYTHING needed for the bike and to use it in the car. All quality stuff. Has an MP3 in it and every HD dealer preloaded so if you get stuck on the road you know who to call.

Did I say I like it?

I agree with the above - however, I got the 450 - Lots cheaper - just minus xm/bluetooth. I resisted the gps for awhile then did my first coast to coast 4/09 - and I am currently on a coast to coast and at the 3700 mile mark - CA to DC and now in Boston. A GPS is a GREAT tool but not the ONLY tool... Kinda like your tool box at home - a Hammer is a must have but it can't do everything. Also if you are Not carefull - the GPS is the best way to have an accident..

The features that are a MUST on the road - motel finder and restaruarant finder - a BIG time saver...

As you can see, everyone with their own tastes. Regardless of the model you end up with (personally I wouldn't spend the extra money for the motorcycle models-way overpriced), the one thing I've realized is an extremely important feature for motorcycle riders that many GPS units do not have is the ability to create and save routes. Many, including more than half of the Garmin units like the one I have, do not allow you to do this. So, if you're planning a nice ride and want to take lots of back roads and not just the quickest path from A to B, this is a must have feature for a motorcycle rider. My unit is only about 3 years old, but I am going to be getting a new one in the next few weeks specifically so that I have a unit with routing capabilities.
