The Zumos are waterproof and can handle vibration. I might get one if my Nuvi 760 ever quits working - but I've used it for over two years. No problems yet. The ability to import routes is a big deal if you ride back roads. I use the HD Ride Planner, dump my routes into the Nuvi, and I'm good to go. Use the mp3 player - so I'm happy.

I'm diggin' my HD-branded Zumo 550. Got it cheap via Chicago HD last winter. The SD card storage for MP3's eliminates the need for an iPod hookup too.

Garmin Nuvi 750. Caught it on sale for $149. Put an SD card in it and use it for mp3s as well. I just suction cup attach it to the tach face or the fuel door.

i have a garmin and it works great. i first bought a tom tom and i didn't care for it so i brought it back and got a garmin. i find that i actually prefer paper maps because it gives me an opportunity to figure out the route i want to take rather than that "bitch in the box" tells me to take. it seems like when i'm out riding or on a trip somewhere, i enjoy stopping for a meal break or for coffee or a big sodie pop, and that gives me the chance to study the route i want to take by studying the map. obviously i'm not in a hurry when i'm riding.

I agree with you. I've seen more 'lost' people on the side of the road since GPS got popular than ever before. They are a neat tool, but I wouldn't leave home without a map!!

Default Garman & an Atlas

I've been using a cheap Garman (Nuvi 205) for a while now. As long as I know where I want to go, it's a good GPS. I don't like the way it sometimes routes me on longer trips though. I also carry a AAA atlas as a backup.
Haven't had any problems with wet weather...so far.
A program to plan my own routes would be nice to have.

Started out using my StreePilot 330 mounted on the bar and just used a ziploc bag if it rained but eventually bought a Zumo 550 and couldn't be happier. It did die on me after about two years but Garmin actually replaced it for shipping costs.
Hard wired it to the spare headlight wires and have it plugged up to the AUX on head unit for MP3.
Use it some times on trips when not sure of entire route but mostly just ride until I am ready to turn around and then hit "Go Home" button and off I go!
I like being able to track good routes and then save them for future or share with other users. I use Map Source software to plan routes and longer rides, like being able to set way points for gas and food stops.
Use it for both the scoot and pickup.

I am using the Garmin nuvi 205 also, it seems to work ok but my problem is that when it is sunny I can't see the screen because of the glare. Is this the same for all GPS models?
