Default I dont like my seat!

I just bought a Mustang solo with backrest for my SG and it really seems to push me forward. I backed out the adjustment screw as far as possible, but its still too far forward. Plus, my knees now bump against the end of the air cleaner! Did I buy the wrong seat? Is their any way to move the seat backwards? Its the right part number for RKs and SGs....

I went through the same thing. Send it back and buy a Corbin. Solved my problem. Almost 20,000 miles later and still lovin it.

If you cant return it then you should try and sell it here on the classifieds. I've seen some people looking for the mustang. I would say a corbin or C&C seat would be the way to go. Corbins are harder, cost more, and have bad customer service but they are very nice and have a built in locking system. C&C seats don't cost as much, are a little softer, great quality and good customer service but they don't lock.

Good luck in your seat hunting.

I shelled out a $hitload of money on a Corbin classic solo w/ backrest. It sits me closer and is hard! Firm is one thing but hard is hard. I gave up on it as it has not gotten any softer. I bought a used airhawk on E-Bay and use it with my brawler. Now i have more leg room and the comfort level is night and day compared the the Corbin rock!

Default Same prob

I have the exact same problem with my '04 RKC and Mustang Solo saddle.
I opted for the Mustang over the Corbin for the cost factor. But now, I am unhappy with the seat. And I'm a little guy standing 5'7". It looks as if I'm going to have to take it in the shorts, (no pun intended) and spring for another (IE Corbin) saddle and try and re-coup some of my money by selling my Mustang Solo.

have that seat. I love it. It's narrower that stock so your legs will come in. It helped me a lot. I have big legs and even though I'm 5'11" when I put my feet down I was on my toes. Love the mustang. How tall are you.

Kind of hate to hear this seeing as I just ordered the same seat.

Been using a two up Sundowner for the past few months and noticed it put me a little more forward that the stock seat.

One option you may want to consider is giving Mean City Cycles Custom Seats a call. Many here on the site have used them to modify their seats with good results. You can tell them how you would like to sit and they can mod the seat to fit you right. It will add a little more to the total price of the seat but considering other options it might not hurt to give them a call and see if they can help.

I think I mite take it to a custom seat guy. I drive by Rich's on my way to work so maybe they can deal with it. I have already bought a different air cleaner. Anyone want a deal on a like new cyclesmiths a/c?

Now this is a bit of a coincidence:

I just had a buddy of mine make me a new vertical mount bar for the backrest for my C&C seat. I gave him the stock one as a guide and told him I wanted to move it back about 3/8's of an inch. He just got it back to me today and I put it on and have only sat on the bike but it feels perfect.

I'll take some pic's and make a new thread with it here shortly. I think this small adjustment was all that was needed to make it great, otherwise it pushed me forward and up more on the seat.

I just modified my A/C football by removing the back portion because it was right where I put my right knee sometimes if I have the ***** of my feet hanging on the highway pegs.

Mustang makes a bracket for the backrest that will allow you to put it back a few more inches which makes a big difference. I didn't see it on their web site but if you call they should be able to help you. I had one and just sold it.
As far as seating position, it all depends what seat you are comparing it to. I had a sundowner on my Sg and when I went to the Mustang solo it moved me back and up.
I also had a corbin solo that I didn't like. It transmitted a lot of vibration through the saddle.
