Spot Lights
I turn mine off at night when behind another driver, and would expect the same from them, be it a bike or cage. As far as expense of replacing, you do know you can just replace the bulb for under $5. Simple process, slice the rubber where it attaches to the glass and peel the adhesive away, replace bulb. I use electrical tape to reattach, you could use silicone if worried about a leak. Dealers tell you you have to replace the whole lamp for $$$.
Off for lack of traffic or in formations.
'05 Heritage uses the 27watt sealed beams. Danged if I was gonna pay $47 to Harley or $36 to the Otto parts. Found 37watt Par 36 on Fleabay, 5 in a box for $30.00 - they even have a more useful light, at 30 degree spread, than the stockers, and light up the night around you instead of just narrow spots in front.
That is a regular sale, BTW.
