Default new frame vs old

I currently have an 2005 96in Road King I promised to my son once he graduates from college. Well my feet are being held to the fire and I'm looking for a new bike. I keep waffling between the new frame vs the old. I've been looking at 103in EG standards and SGs. Any words of wisdom please? Thanks.

I can't compare an older framed FL to the new frame. I have rode them, just not a ton of miles.

HOWEVER I just went from a 2000 SoftTail to the new framed '10 SG... I LOVE IT. It corners superbly and feels solid as a rock on the road so far. ( I only have 1300 miles on it now though..Not that 1300 mi is a TON either LOL) I like it more every time I ride it.

You can't go wrong with the new frames. I had an 09 EGC I put almost 14K miles on it. It was a great riding bike. I got a wild hair and wanted an Anniversary edition to match my 08 F150 truck. I like the 08 UC I have now as well. I can tell you the 09 and 10's are better in a lot of area's. They have the crossover pipe running underneath taking more heat away from rider and passenger. The bigger back tire...Ect. If I had bought an UC in the 09, I would probably still have it. In my opinion the best bike to buy is the 2010 Ultra Limited. You might want to wait and see the new 2011.
Good luck !!!

Went from 03 Ultra to 09 and could not believe the improvement in handling.

An older framed machine can be made to be as stable as the new frames. Both my RK's 02 & 06, are rock steady at any speed and in the turns.Good Luck

Sorry, I disagree. I've had 3 PRE-09 bikes, Two with frame stabilizers, and they still do not compare to the new frame.

I recently went from an 04 Road King Custom to a 10 Street Glide and I find both the improvements in handling and braking nothing short of profound.
