New 98" build started
Video from today..... It's funny how much different it sounds through the camera, versus in person. At .38 in the video, you can briefly catch the 'tink' before I move the camera.

It's loaded in the trailer now for the trip to Florida tomorrow. Unless Doc thinks it's an issue, I'm gonna turn the radio on and ride the damn thing. I'll pull it back apart in a few weeks and do some shimming and go from there.
Pull the plugs and crank it via starter while listening closely to the rocker area. Maybe get the exhaust note out of the equation.
I dunno..just throwing out ideas. Man I hope my bike runs at least a tiny bit better after all the time and $$ I'm putting into it now. Freaky motor noises drive me nuts so I understand how frustrating this must be for you.
Hang in there.
As soon as I put the bike on the dyno and Doc got started, the battery crapped out. Ran to the local stealer and got a new one. $160......... He tuned for several hours, and I ran to get some lunch. When I got back, more bad news. The damn drive belt broke. He was pretty much done, and was doing some fine tuning with timing adjustments when the belt broke. So there's still a little power left in it. The next time I ride down to visit my dad, he's gonna finish tweaking it.
The curve is decent, with just one little spot to straighten out. That won't be a problem right now though. Stopped on the way home and bought a belt, so hopefully I'll be riding again tomorrow or the next day.
As for the mysterious noise, it seems to be better. The bike had cooled down a bit by the time I got back from lunch, but it sounded good then. Once I'm able to take it for a ride and get it hot again, we'll see how it sounds.
Got to give a big "f*ck you" to Stormy Hill H-D for their overpriced batteries. But have to give a big "kudos" to Chrystal River H-D for giving me a huge break on the new belt.
Most of all though, I need to give Mr. Wizard from this forum a HUGE thank you! His tremendous generousity made my trip a LOT easier and more comfortable. I owe you greatly, Wiz.

Swingarm bushings are next on the to-do list. Mine didn't look too good today when I took everything apart. They were rather smooshed out of shape. That should help eliminate my slight handling woes.
