I have had my bike for about 3 weeks now(2010 Ultra). She runs like a dream. Already did the first service, runs better/quieter/cooler after the initial oil change. However, if I am out riding, then stop for gas, she is hard to start back up. There is a good hesitation, so much so, the radio actually looses power when starting and it has to do it's "start-up" screen. The bike is always in Neutral (to keep the clutch from dragging). I have searched the forums, I have tried starting immediately after hitting run, I have waited for the light to go out, etc... I don't imagine the battery is bad, could be weak I guess. Currently, the bike is totally stock, boss lady is parting with any money now. Just looking for ideas. Thanks.
I have a 2010 Road King and it starts hard when it's hot - not every time, but many times. I just keep holding the start button down and it fires after a bit.
I've read on the forum that HD has issues with the compensator sprocket. They will fix under warrenty only if issues Luke difficulty starting or starter kick back. May be worth looking into. I'm not sure if this is a problem with newer bikes. If so take advantage of it you will be ahead if you do a built. But I'm nit a wrench so let's hear from the experts.
My '09 Ultra Classic does that as well when it hot. My independent shop owner told me there was a tuner available that would correct that problems. I don't remember what that tuner is but I will ask him. Anyone else heard that?
Probably that crappy Italian gas...Just kidding. Ride carefully overthere, if you are riding in Naples you are a brave soul and my hero.
Luckily the Italian gas hasn't messed up either of my vehicles. I do live in Naples, for another year at least, then hopefully to Norfolk. You are correct, riding here is not for the faint of heart. I definitely think it has made me a better rider. From the crappy roads to people pulling out in front of you while talking on the phone looking the other way, riding is very interesting here to say the least.

One of the Delphi Forums I frequent said that the SE Compensator has been a remedy to the problem. Could you ask your Indy about that? I have a whopping ZERO certified mechanics around here. I have to do all of my own maintenance. I have been in touch with a dealer back in Virginia, but they say that have not heard of the problem.
Cale,
First,Thank you for your service to our country! Be safe.
Second, you might be able to contact the Harley riders group at Sigonella, Sicily and see if they have any recommendations or mechanics in their group. Good Luck!
