Electrical problem on my 2009 FLHP.
I removed the police tach on my 09 FLHP so I could install a radio in its place. I did not like the way the radio looked, so I put everything back. When I went to start the bike, I had no lights on the dash or on the tach. All the other lights work, i.e. headlights, passing lamps directional lights, front and rear fender lights, brake lights, horn, and the gas guage on the gas tank lights up, but the guage does not register any gas in the tank, nor is the low fuel light on. The speedometer does not light up, no neutral light or other lights on the face of the speedometer, and the starter will crank, but the motor will not start. I checked all the fuses and they all check out OK. I pulled the dash, and all the wires are connected, even though I did not remove the dash for the radio install. I pulled the gas tank, inspected the main wireing harness under the tank, and everything looks good there. When I ran the coax from the back of the bike to the handlebars, I only lifted the gas tank enough to slide the coax underneath, but I did remove it completely for my inspection. I completely removed the headlight narcell and checked all the electrical connections, and everything looks good. I called the service department at the HD dealership and they said they would pick it so they can repair it. I don't know if I unintentionally did something to cause the problem, which I strongly suspect I did, or if it is coincidental and this could be considered a warrantee item. I was honest and told them what I did, so they will possibly say it was my fault. What am I missing? Any suggestions? Thanks, Halfbreed
