Default Mounting ARC amp in UltraClassic

Hey guys. How have you mounted your amp in this application?
I have both the CB module and the XM module on the top of my radio already. The amp will not fit on top of that and still get the fairing back on. I see that J&M has a bracket that they sell with their unit. Has anybody tried to make a similar bracket? Looks like the other option would be to relocate the 2 modules under the radio somehow, possibly zip ties, and velcro the amp to the top of the radio.
Any other ideas??

Don

Don,

I had the CB module on top of the HK radio and an empty CB module next to it (where your XM module is located) to provide a flat surface for the Hogtunes amp I had installed. When I removed the HT amp and installed the Arc amp, I encountered the same problem you now have.

I relocated the CB module below the HK radio, but when I did, the wiring from the CB module to the audio harness was extremely tight to the point that I simply extended the CB module's wiring.

You may not have the wire length issue on your bike since your Ultra uses a different audio harness than that used on non-Ultras to which CB and/or XM have been added. Non-Ultra owners buy the non-Ultra overlay harness to provide the connections from the accessory (in my case CB, rear passenger controls and headset connector, and rider headset connector); your wiring harness has those already.

So, I don't know if you will have a wire length issue or not if you move the CB and XM modules below the radio.

I haven't seen anyone here fab a bracket like the one in the J&M kit. If you find one, please post with a new thread.

Good luck with your project and post whatever solution you come up with.

Carl

That is the exact reason I went with the J&M amp setup. IMO there are enough wires to help support the modules underneath the radio with a little help from some industrial style velcro.
