Default Re-Mapping..EFI tuning? DO it yourself?

i bought my 2010 SG back in December (last bike was a 98 Ftaboy) so when i wanted to 'change my pipes" i quickly learned that it's a whole new ball of wax with the EFI bike. I ordered new header pipes and slip-ons while i was buying...was told by the dealer that i needed a new A/C and tuner to make it run right..so i just went with basic A/C element and the SERTS the dealer did the whole install and tune before i took the bike home.
So i'm not too happy with my slip-ons and looking into Jackpots..there is alot of talk about having to re-map the EFI when changes are made...and i've seen ALOT on here about FUelmoto being good at making things run right..run cooler..and how Jamie from Fuelmoto sent guys 'a new map" and it fixed problems they were having.
Here is my question..can someone explain what is involved in "inputting" a new "map" for your EFI system? can it be done at home? do you need a computer hook up of any kind?

If your dealer installed the SE Tuner when you purchased the bike, you should have the VIC (?) module that goes between the bikes ECM and the laptop. That allows you to make direct programming changes to the ECM without an add on module.

If I am not mistaken, with the SE tuner installed, Fuel Moto may have a hard time getting a map for your bike since they will not know the stock programming information since it was altered by the SE tuner.

Those with more information may be able to shed some more light on the subject.

The SERTS is a good tuning tool. But it isn't one of the user friendly systems. If you don't have any experiance in tuning EFI systems I'd leave it to a good tuner to make any adjustments. My suggestion would be to determine exactly what you want to do to the bike (exhaust, intake, cubes, cams). Do the entire build at once and have a good qualified tuner with a duno set you up with a custom tune and you'll be good to go. You paid good money for the SERT, take advantage of it. Good luck.........Rich

You are on the right track. Contack Fuelmoto.
I like the PCs as they come with a map for your bike plus they are easy to make changes with minimal tech knowledge.

The SEPST is easy to make changes are you upgrade, just run Smartune and you are done.

I don't think that is the case and as such have to disagree.

You get the PC-V pre-downloaded from F/M for your configuration.
It supercedes the stock ECM and you no longer use the o2 sensors, and plug them with the dummy plugs.

The PC-V is a piggy back unit. It takes over the "thinking" part of the ECM, and you now use the map(s) provided you based on your particular configuration(pipes, A/C).

It is the easiest to use as far as I've heard, period.
Plug and play. The install takes about 15-30 minutes.
No "dyno" required or necessary and will make significant HP & TO.

Time tested and proven and better support from F/M than anything on the market as far as I'm concerned.

it shouldn't make any difference, it still supercedes the ecm.
