Currently have a 103 kit, Rinehart slip ons and SE air filter. Bike was dyno tuned with a SERT. I have been thinking about getting the heavy breather and wonder if I would need to spend the $300 to have it tuned again, or can I bolt it on and go with my current tune? This for a 2009 Street Glide
From what I've read (please correct me if I'm wrong) the Heavy Breather only makes a difference once you've eclipsed 100/100. If you are not there yet, you are "probably" ok.
I liked the look of the heavy breather, but after I mounted my tourpak permanently, I just didn't think it fit the look of a full on bagger. Looked great when the bike was more stripped down. Was nice to get the legroom back too. So it was just for cosmetic reasons.
Hey Bennie- you should be okay to ride, but I suspect you may need to re-tune, as more air will probably enter the air filter (like a ram air effect) at higher speeds; if so, the mix will be slightly leaner. Not sure by how much, or to what effect it will have (may be a 0.1 AFR difference; may be 0.5, or 0.9 etc, just not sure...) Do you have the newer racetuner (Pro) where you can use smartune feature? My dealer here charges $41 bucks to do a dyno pull; you may be able talk with the tech and see if they can alter the VE table while the bike is hooked up? worth a try...

Unfortunately I don't know where to take it because the local dealer here closed up shop. But there is suppose to be a guy around here that has a dyno machine and apparently rents out the machine for like $40 an hour. The only catch is he doesn't do any tuning, just rents the machine. I guess it's too much for liability ins. So it would be up to me. I have to admit I like the idea of doing my own tune, however I would really need to study the idea first. I have the pro super tuner #32109-08A
