looking for recommendations on a good DOT half helmet. I've been riding with the same novelty "bowl" for the last 10 years.... anyway the wife is getting on me a little bit about the safety. A friend of a friend just passed in a low speed freak accident.
Coming from a novelty i'm obviously looking for something light and small...
I know ..i know... i'm gonna get some comments about having my wife telling me what to do but..she's real good to me and i know she's just looking out for my best..
Thanks guy

I've had several different half helmets over the years and recently picked up a Scorpion EXO 100 which is the best so far for me. Lots of good features and actually feels like it provides some protection for a DOT 1/2.
I opted for Vega helmets for the wife and I, for the money and the availability; skid lid was a second choice as they are a bit larger. It is all preferential as to fit and style, best bet: try as many on as you can locate at the stealers and aftermarketers in your area then look to the net after you find a good fit for the best pricing.
I used novelties for a good many years until I lost a few friends that wouldn't have necessarily gone if they had been wearing DOT units. The damage they incurred was too obvious as to head trauma and a helmet of impact design may have saved their passing to old age.

Great helmet, unfortunatly, Scorpion helmets dont quite fit my head. I seem to be right in between their sizes.
