Probably another freaking bearing failure. HD has changed bearing suppliers and they must really suck. Havent you guys noticed the inner cam bearing failures, wheel bearing failures, neck bearing failures ect lately?
Twin Cam Trannies have had some problems in the past, from some of the articles I've read...
Seems the main shaft can flex in the middle, from one particular article and aftermarket manufacturer who offers a setup to correct that.
I have seen needle bearings slip along the main shaft just like the primary main shaft bearing inner race does. This could be from the main shaft flexing, possibly.
Anyway, I changed my 5 speed gear set out to a Baker DD6, and couldnt be happier. I've got probably 8,000 miles on it now, and still happy with it. Changing the 6 speed gearset to the Baker DD7 is pretty much the same thing, I believe.
If the shop has to swap out the gearset, then I'd suggest going with a Baker DD7 if they have no prob other than the difference in cost.
yea i still need to ask them about that also. i had a 2008 roadglide befor my streetglide and the tranny bearings went out on that also. got back from laughlin river run 2 days later going down hiway 5 i heard this wining noise took it to the deal er. when they put on the lift they called me and my wife over to where the tech was and he started it and put it gear and sure enough i heard it as plain as day the bearings where out. still had warranty but i really wanted a new streetglide so that was my q to buy the new bike. i have some **** luck on trannys 2 in a row and still none of the guys have any answers as to why this has happened. any way thanks guys i will keep ya posted when its ready to pick up.
