Very strange. My bike recently started making a clicking noise when backing it up before starting. It's a very fast clicking sound that increases as the speed increases. Bike in neutral with clutch in. Anyone have anything like this?
Best case scenario - Primary chain adjuster needs to ratchet up a tooth. Time will do it. I'm guessing here though....
Next - IDS bearing, although I'm not familiar with the design in the 09 wheel.
Next - Inner Primary bearing. Test - sound difference with engine running in neutral and clutch pulled in - out.
Worst case - Main Drive Gear bearing(s). Usually a vibration/noise while driving.
As far as the worst case goes, there seems to be a fairly low failure rate in 09's.
Although - the clicking is when I determined my Main Drive Gear bearing started failing. Good news with that - I rode 20K more miles after I first heard it.
