Heat Shield 65952-09
I posted this in the Wanted Section of the Classified Threads but I figured more expose couldn't hurt.
The large heat shield on my 09 SG came from the factory with two dimples in the chrome surface caused by the rear clamp probably being overtightened.
I pointed this out to the salesmen back in Sept 08 when i picked my bike up. He said they all are like that and pointed to another SG with the same dimples in the chrome.
Well around Feb of this year I had the bike at the dealership and a tech saw the dimples and said that's a defect from the factory and it should be swapped out. He said that the dealership does enough stock exhaust changes that he would grab me a shield off of another bike that went with an aftermarket system, rather then going through the claim process.
Well, time went by and the dealership closed down in May before I could get a new shield.
Went to another dealer today and they told me that they couldn't do a warranty claim but for me to call HD Customer Service and see if they would replace it under the warranty which expires this Sept.
I figured before I was shot down by the MoCo, I would ask here in case someone had a pristine heat shield laying around collecting dust.

The MoCo requested pictures of the shield, which I sent.
Just got a call back, sorry, we will not cover it because it should have been reported when you picked up the bike.
I kick myself now for not pushing the issue and I wish I could kick the salesman right now for blowing smoke up my you know where.
Big question is, does anybody have one laying around or do I spend $80 for a heat shield......
