I'm not a rich guy either. I bought my first bike for $300.00 an 85 Rebel. I bought my second bike for $5300.00 cash with my back pay from SS (09 Kawasaki). My current bike is an 08 FLHRC for $12500.00 that I got from a buy here pay here car lot that also has bikes. They gave me $3000.00 for the Kawi on trade in. (I have no credit, have always paid cash) My payments are $255.00 per month. Makes it a little tight money wise, but doable.

Sorry the OP got hit hard. Aside from that this thread is crap. I worked my A off to get where I am. I am the only original member of my team and office that is left. I was lucky but only because at the time I was the newest and cheapest memelber of the team then. So I have built myself back from there and just bought my first HD which is an 08. So if that grinds the OP I don't care. I earned mine. Sounds to me like he needs more wind.

And, since the OP prides himself on buying older bikes, who knows how many of the 60K miles were already on the bike when he acquired it. But 60,000 miles over 20 years= garage queen.

I didnt read all 21 pages to this post, but I have two bikes One is a 99 (dare i say it here) Suzuki Marauder, 46K second motor and there is a third motor in a crate just in case anything happens to the second one cause I plan to never sell it. Ive had it completely apart in all aspects and then back together. My new bike is a 14 sg NOT black tho, But one thing you dont read on head stones is I wish I saved more money or I wish i lived a lil more free or wish I had gotta more stuff while I was alive. As one poster said ya only live once so why waste this time around riding a old bike when the newer ones are so much better. If you cant afford it dont bash the ones who are lucky or worked or whatever it took to get to where they or I myself am at. Enjoy your bike I enjoy mine. My 1 year old harley now has 8700 miles on it and as you can see i live in Michigan so my riding time is very limited so i make the most of it while I can and live life the same way. I dont bash others for what they have and I dont i enjoy what I have and hope they enjoy what they have.
