5 over. And if I'm in the left lane going over the speed limit and you're still on my ***, you might as well kiss it while you're there.
Going 5 mph over in the left lane is a good way to get your a$$ kissed by a 18"x84" slab of chromed steel!! Pass slower traffic and get back in the right lane like the sign says. The 'Hammer Lane' wasn't built for your personal use only. A little curtesy to fellow drivers/riders goes a long way towards eliminating 'road rage'.

I don't even use 6th gear unless I'm cruising at 70 or more. On the Interstate I set the cruise at 8 mph over the posted rate to avoid contributing my hardly earned cash to the local governments, and so I can use either hand to slap myself awake. On my recent trip to Vegas I ran as fast as 110 on a cople of straight stretches just to see how she went. No worries as far as I was concerned. I have found that fuel consumption goes up dramatically if I run over 80 mph for very long. I don't have a tach on my Road King so I have no idea what the rpms are but the bike is much smoother in 5th at less than 70.
I work in outside sales as well and spend a ton of time in a cage...Left lane driving is my # 1 pet peeve that is guaranteed to get me cursing, esp when the driver is on the cell or f%^&$^* eating fast food while in the "passing lane"....The best thing this Southern boy has ever learned was the use of horns while driving in 3rd world countries...They use them as intended and will not hesitate to lay on it...Now if I could get my wife to understand that they're made for more than a quick beep to say hey to someone u know
Seriously why are we southerners taught it's rude to get on the horn..Wifey yelled at me the other day b/c I blew the horn at someone that was weaving into my lane.... jeeezzz
as far as cruising, I'm new to my EG but the sweet spot seems to be 70-80 at 3k with my feet kicked up on the hwy pegs...be even sweeter when I get my new radio kit from biketronics installed 8-)
I usually travel 5 over (still waiting for a ticket to come off my record) but a couple weeks ago our group had a slow leader and my gas mileage went from 38 to 45MPG, and that was towing a trailer. I was shocked.
Everyone is posting mostly freeway speeds. Most of my "cruising" is backroad, so about 5 - 8+ is the norm. I may speed up for sweepers tho. We like the sparks.
Shiny.
