In a previous thread it was pointed out that the support bracket going from the main fairing bracket to just outside the speaker, in its original configuration, broke frequently causing fairing vibration. My wife complained that a sudden onset of fairing vibration had started on her 2007 Ultra. After two inspections I found a broken bracket on the right side (a picture essentially identical to what I found has been posted in a previous thread). When I called the H-D parts dept. about this issue the parts guy just laughed and said he had replace more of these brackets than any other part on the motorcycle. He also said that H-D had redesigned this part about five times (making it stronger in the break area each time). He probably pulled that number out of the air, since it is very difficult to tell how many times a part has been redesigned. In any case, I replaced both the right and left brackets and, naturally, the vibration went away. To finish up, for those who care, there has not been a recall on this bracket even though H-D admits that there is a problem with it. So, no free brackets. Cost for both sides, approx. $26.
Thanks for the update tedcmiller. I haven't had any vibration issues yet w/my 09 FLHX, but doesn't mean a good hwy bump could bust one loose. I know some people fabricated their own "stronger" versions which is another option, but I don't have any metal working tools. Plan to check these at least every winter break & if vibrations occur.
The part no. on the replacement parts is -96C. This means the parts I was given were introduced in 1996 and have been replaced with new designs three times (A, B, and C). When was the last redesign? Who knows? If anyone has later parts (D, E, etc.) please let us know.

You have the latest revision. It was introduced in 2009.
The big vertical brackets can break too, and they are much more expensive and harder to replace than the horizontals. I think these may have been redesigned too, but if you have the old design it would be a good idea to modify them for strength, as they will likely break eventually. Also, if they do break you can fix them. Check out this write-up on modifying these brackets. There is also another more recent thread that outlines the same basic procedure. I modified mine 18 months ago and they're held to date, and even survived an accident last October.
This is another resurrected thread. I'm Having issues with faring vibration now. Recently I upgraded the radio and speakers. I replaced a broken speaker bracket.
Now it looks like I need to go back in to the fairing again to look for this issue.
Just Dang!
You mentioned new sound system, When I added the KlockWerkz 2+2 bars my speakers would vibrate the bars with the added amps and speakers when up loud at highway speeds.
