I just picked up cruise control for my bike and am getting ready to put it on, but have a few questions. First the switch that goes in the fairing has 4 wires but only three of them have metal tabs to plug in, the directions say that the 4th is to be connected to the speaker switch ground wire... what is that? I don't have any switches for my speakers?
Also the kits came with a retainer wire harness. I don't see in the instructions where to use this. Anyone know where it goes?
im getting ready to add cruise to mine. same year model as yours. did you get yours going. if not, we can compare notes when all the parts get here in a couple days. stay tuned
Cruise is installed and have been using it for a while. It is actually very easy to install, and only takes about an hour or so. Have to have dealer activate it.
That extra wire is just a ground. All the switches up there have a ground run in series with them. If you only have the one switch just make sure you have a ground and you should be fine. Tuck the other and save it for later if you put some other switches in.
I did my 09 FLHT a couple of months ago. The extra wire is for the speaker switch that is found on glides with tour pak mounted rear speakers. On yours, just tape the end over and forget it. Mine plugged right in and didn't require any activation by the dealer. Some do, some don't. Real easy to tell. Get going about 50 and try to turn it on. If the indicator light doesn't turn green and the cruise engage, you need to take it to the dealer.
i just received my cruise kit from zanotti's for my 09 FLHT. it came with the handlebar switch but no module. im calling them tomorrow, but does anyone know if the module should have been included or did i get shorted parts?

There is no module (at least not one as shown on the HD website) on '08 and newer bikes because you have TBW (electronic throttle control); i.e., no throttle/idle cables.

You will have to mudule to install. Put the switch kit on and see if it works. If it does not run the HD shop and have them turn the Cruise Feature on in the ECM. Simple as that. Instant cruise control.
