Just curious how important free shipping is for everyone making online purchases. Does the shipping cost determine whether you buy from one company over another?

Free shipping? I wasn't born yesterday.
There's no such thing as free shipping in this world. Shipping included would be a more accurate definition.
The only thing that matters to me is the total cost of the item(s) shipped to me. I could give 2 sh*ts what the breakdown is.
The lowest total gets my business, all other things being equal.
Cost plus shipping isthe way to look at it. I agree with other post, free shipping is icing on the cake as long as the item is in stock, fair price and ships fast. I have been burned with free shipping and takes 2, 3 or 4 weeks to get it.
Free shipping is always nice, but I don't want to get free shipping that takes three weeks! Total price is the deciding factor, free shipping and whether its expedited shipping is what really matters to me.
I look at total cost and also will compare shipping charges. If I see that a place is charging 2-3x what the others are for shipping I'll usually buy from someone else even if total cost is a couple bucks more.
If I need something bad enough I'm more likely to order form someplace close and go with regular shipping rather than from across the country and pay overnight shipping.
