I am having the same issue along with a lot of others on this forum. I'm leaning towards Hill Coutry Custom Cycles 12 or 14" ape kits and just pulling them back closer to me. But the $220 for the Wild 1's WO575 sounds a lot better than $450 or so for the apes. I plan on changing them myself anyway. One other thought that I had not considered in the purchase of new grips. Don't know how to get the left one off without cutting it.

Well, get a service manual (factory, Clymer manual, whatever) and just follow the procedure to remove the bars. Just take your time and you can do it. The hardest part of the whole process (at least on the Eglide) is the clutch cable replacement. You have to pull the tranny/clutch side cover to connect it at that end.
It's not a technically challenging job at all, just a bit tedious.

Might sound like a stupid question but do you have a visor or lip on your helmet? The hubby and I both had the same pain and instead of needing new bars, we needed to change how we wore our helmets. Pulled the visor off the helmets and were both amazed by how much strain that kept off our necks and shoulders.
