Thanks so much for all good advice, really appreciate that. I think I know now, since I work on my house I heart my shoulder and elbow and now I remember since then I got my hand numb within 30 mins ride every single time!
Stretch by turning your hand upside dn. and pulling your fingers back towards your body. Also stand near a table and push your hands dn. flat. Take Potasium pills. Finally these gloves are great, designed for riders. Lots of good tips on his web site.
Guys, if your cycle ran poorly would you add air to the tires, oil to the engine and gas to the tank to make it run better or would you determine what was making it run poorly?
You cannot fix it until you know whats broken.
Same issue here with a numb hand. Could be a nerve problem at the wrist, elbow or neck or all of the above. Less likely, could be a nerve problem at the floor of the shoulder or even blood circulation. Suggesting a treatment without a diagnosis could only make things worse.
Funny, I rarely ride for more than two hours until earlier this month and for the first time in my not so short life, had painful numbness in my right hand...
Clearly carpal tunnel syndrome (median nerve entrapment at the wrist) in my case likely due to the shitty handlebar wrist positioning on my road king plus v-twin vibration. Won't ride for more than an hour without a break. Lesson learned.
I have 08 street glide. Starting last 2-3 weeks now when I ride my bike about 30 mins or more my hand start getting numb on my right hand. It doesnt happen before.any idea ?
Thanks
Hey beanock --- Alot of these "stretch your hands & fingers" answers are alot of BS. It happens to everybody. Go to any bike dealer (Harley or Metric) and buy one of those Throttle Jockey things, or whatever they're called, Get the one with velcro on it. Best $10 investment you'll ever make. I have an 09 EG Classic with cruise control, but you can't use cruise all the time. I have one, even with the cruise, & use it alot. You won't believe the relief you'll get.
Being a ageing wrench isn't helping my hands at all. I have extended my bars with Wild 1 RKII's, I try to catch myself and release my grip during rides, I do have Carpal Tunnel, I do have advanced arthritis in all knuckles, I do have an excess buildup of calcified deposits in my hands, pinched nerves in neck, shoulders, wrists and hands so I do know the reasons and the pain. I have gel insert gloves, I do exercise my hands and arms and I still have the issue just something I have gotten more accustomed to and deal with. Aspirin does help as does Naproxim Sodium and other over the counter stuff at some point I expect it to get bad enough for me to stop riding, that will be one of my worst days.
The angle of your wrist in comparison with your forearm, while
twisting the throttle could have a lot to do with the numbness in
your hand and wrist.....A gorilla-grip could also be the culprit, or a
combination of the two.
