I talked to a certified H-D mechanic the other day and he told me the Stage 1 download was a gimmick? He told me because I have the Vance & Hines Fuel Pack that I would be wasting my money to pay Harley for the $150 "Performance Download" because the fuel pack is doing the same thing. I am thinking he misunderstood my question as to if I needed it...when it was more of a want, if you catch my drift? It seems like my bike is running a bit lean by the look of the end of my pipes and the spark plugs. Should I just call V&H and ask for a better map or is the Stage 1 going to give me more performance, and also fix my lean problem? I am also confused as to why when you ask for a map you have to tell V&H if you bike has the Stage 1 if the mechanic is right?

 

The download merely advances the timing a little bit. If you already have the Fuelpak the download is worthless. He is right. If you are not happy with the Fuelpak look into TTS, Power Commander, Sert, Thundermax, etc.
