Can these pistons be used easily with pump gas? I'd be using cams for bottom end power. Would compression releases be mandatory?

10.5:1? Comp releases wouldn't hurt, but IMHO don't think they would be absolutely required.

I'm ~ 10:1 using pump gas (usually 92, but 89 occasionally) without issues.

I like the looks of the Andrews 54H cams with those pistons. Cam timing is the key to whether or not ya need CRs. I'd like to avoid them.

well the heads are going to be off if you're changing pistons. the manual compression releases are easy to put in. my 103" uses the 10.75 to 1 compression ratio pistons, and the compression releases are needed when the motor is hot, like when i stop to get fuel and start her right back up, especially with the heat of summer and the high humidity. i feel that it's far easier and cheaper to bore the heads for the mcr's while the motor is torn down rather than having to do it later. just my two cents though.
