Yea my 09 does it. Noticed it started doing it after having the 10,000 dealer service I had done prior to my Sturgis trip. I just did my own 20K service and checked it myself and it was to tigght. PRobably will just buy the chrome one at some point. If I keep the bike
I usually do my own service and have never taken the 06 to the dealer for service. The 06 has never leaked.
I had to replace the gasket on my 09' over this past weekend. I didn't realize it was as common as it appears to be.
It was a big problem. Back in '08 a few of us went out in the parking lot of the local dealership when a lot of bikes were present and found that almost all '07 and '08 bikes had faulty gaskets, some in the advanced stages where the paint on the MC was becoming damaged from the DOT4 fluid.
My understanding is that the old-style gaskets were allowing leakage through the center and oozing out along the top part of the gasket where it contacts the cover--not along the bottom part. If caught soon enough it would not harm the paint on the MC itself.
I kept a close eye on mine and when it started to ooze I took it in for a warranty replacement, which fixed the problem until a year later when I replaced it with a chrome cover. I've had no problem with this cover either.
I had both my front and rear covers replaced under warranty on my '06 and it still cost me $50.. Now I am just watin' for dawg to get me new chrome covers thru his discount employee perk.
