2008 Ultra starting issue

2008 Ultra starting issue
soon as I hit the start button, it blows the ignition 15amp fuse. Any ideas? I looked all over and couldnt see a bare wire shorting out? Motor doesn't turn over, instant blown fuse

Hmmmmm. If you can get to that start switch and use a meter to see if if shorts to ground. That would be a start I guess. If you have the book them just trace through the circuit and see what you find. Mine did this after my Cop bike conversion but I pinched a wire. Fixed it and it was good to go. Everything else works until you hit the start switch? Might be a bad switch..

If that switch is going to ground somewhere it will pop the fuse. Try taking the controls off the right side so you can see the wires and everything then try to start it. Might be a pinch in there somewhere. I guess we wouldn't know if it is the starter till you troubleshoot the switch. Start there are see what happens.

This will require a wiring diagram, an ohm meter and some basic electrical knowledge. The symptoms indicate a direct short to ground in the circuit. You will have to break the circuit down to smaller pieces and test each one until you narow it down. Once you do that you just keep narrowing it down further until you actually determine if it is a wire, a switch, relay or starter. I know that sounds vague, but that's it in a nutshell.
