Maybe check your "vehicle alignment" also.
The engine, trans and swing arm is built as one unit.
If its out of whack, it can cause handling problems.
I've heard HD sends new bikes out of the factory with bad alignments.
If you are going to add a stabilizer brace, I would check alignment before the brace goes on.
I agree with the few people here that think these bikes should be able to be ridden hard without you worrying about killing yourself.
Ride on
I was in VT this weekend riding very hard on the back roads through the mountains 80 and 90 per hour when all of a sudden my front tire started wobbling uncontrollably. I've rode rice rockets for 20 years faster and harder around the same rodes and never had this happen, this scared the **** out of me, lucklily i strong armed the handle bars and came out of it fine. I guess I know a street glides limits. Is there anything I can put on the bike so this wont happen.
How 'bout a rider that does not do 80-90 MPH around corners on a touring bike.
For those of you who have given me some tips on fixing the problem, thank you. For those who've got nothing good to say you'd would be the ones we are waiting for at the next stop sign. Don't critisize those who know how to ride, the front end started wobbling without scraping the floorboard. The turn wasn't sharp enough for that to happen, when riding i scrape 90% of the time taking rights and lefts. Im 6'6 240 and the SG is a little bike for me, sort of like a monkey screwing a football. I've had no problems like this for two years and just wanted some advice so thanks to all, I'm still gonna ride it like I own it, been doing it for 20 years, just not not on the track anymore.
Cale, so you have the "optional rear cruise control" too ;-) Mine does the same thing. When she's unhappy with the way I'm riding I get a big whack on the back of the helmet. Pretty effective unit in my opinion.
you had to realize you were going to get a 50-50 mix of answers right?....nobody was questioning your skill's at riding your bike.no one said you didn't know how to ride..your right it is your bike so ride it like you want.just dont expect evryone to be sympathetic to your riding style...
