I will stick with the black top on the Guinness. Or the tap at the pub. I have the HD module and love it. First make sure you put in red bulbs so you dont look like a dork and get a ticket. Second, fuuugit about it! Please. The odds of someone seeing you brake for a quick 2 second pulse and getting in trouble seems pretty remote - althou I guess it happened. Most of us pump the brake a few times when braking into a turn - or should. I like it. Also with the smokes signal covers in the back the red bulbs on my blaqck cherry ride look sinister. And of course there is the option to NOT have them flash by removing a itty bitty wire with a big tab on it to show you to pull it off. Oh and yes I have the HD version and it flashed too.
I purchased the Harley module , mostly because the place where I purchased my bike gave me a gift card. I find it hard to tell when the brakes light up because it is hardly brighter than the running light set up. I tried to figure out how to remove a wire or something from the module so it would make the lights function as brake/directional and not running. Anyone have a thought? I gave up and went for a ride instead. I have put the red bulbs in the back because I have smoked lenses but they are discolored already. I don't have a problem running with the amber bulbs , it seems to give some contrast to the regular brake light.
I would double check with your dealer. Mine ARE WAY BRIGHTER than the running lights. Make sure you have the right bulb. There is more than one bulb that will light. The reds should be the same intensity as the amber ones you have. It is illegal to run amber in the back unless they are flashing (amber lights are required to flash) (at the least in FL and we are very lenient here) just as it is illegal to run blue lights anywhere on your bike (for obvious reasons). You need to go with red or turn them off. OVer time you will spend more on a ticket than the gas it takes to run it up to your HD dealer and have them take a quick look at it. My guys are great about that stuff....I am not that smart as to know this stuff.
A friend has the new h-d kit it also does not get brighter on the running lights to brake realy takes away from the brake light this is the reason I do not have one but if the kuryakyn is better I may buy one I will have to look in to it and hoopman I wonderd if they were not the right bulbs or wired wrong but thought since the h-d part changed that is how it is do you have the new style or the old the old worked good.
The Kuryakn Full Panacea setup is well worth the money and the safety features far outweigh any possible shortcomings that may arise from using them. Just my .02
