Default Seat vs. Bars???

Howdy;

I am sure that this topic is covered in here somewhere, but I haven't stumbled upon it yet. Here is my predicament, I am 5'9" on a 2010 RG. When I nail it, I get pulled back from the bars if I am not holding on really tight; and at a stop, I can get one foot flat and the other side is toe only.

I have been considering a different seat, but I am comfortable on the stock one. My other option is bars, which are much cheaper. The dealer says Heritage bars will go on with the stock cables and wiring, and brings then up 1" and back 3". This sounds like the way to go; but the info on their web-site does not agree.

Any suggestions, or perhaps there is another alternative???

Thank you!

A RG is a bike you have to set up for you. I will bet that before your done that you'll change both the bars and the seat. There are many options . maybe even a custom reworked original seat to lower it. I have a Sundowner seat and Yaffe bars on mine and a Cee Baileys 15" euro shield. This is the combination that works best for me at 6'. It only took three years and way too much money to figure that out. Enjoy your Bike it's one of the best.

I think you are gonna find out that it will be Seat AND Bars... The best bars in the World will not get you Flat Footing the bike so get that done First, then you can get the bars to put the controls right where you want them. If you like the stock seat, you might want to try Mean City Cycles and have them rework your seat to get you more in the position you are looking for without the cost of replacing the seat. Good Luck !

Some seats are narrower in front which will help you flat-foot it when you stop. I installed HD Touring bars and a Mustang solo seat on my '04 Road King to provide the riding position I was looking for. As far as being pulled back from the bars under accelleration - maybe a back rest would help.
