OK, so I'm going to be installing a suicide clutch and tank shifter soon and I need to remove the factory clutch lever and cable. I kind of took a look at the lever assembly and it looked to all be one piece. If I remove the clutch lever assembly, does the back part of the control go with it or no? If it does, what are my options?
I guess I could just remove the lever if worse comes to worse. Just wondering if there is a replacement part if the assembly is removed.
I got a small mirror clamp to take the place of the clutch perch. First i cut off the clutch perch with a dremel but I ahted the way it looked. The clamp was chrome and about $12. I don't know if they make a black one. Congrats on the decision!
the lever perch and the switch housing are two separate peices.you can remove the lever and the perch along with the cable and this will not affect the switches.
when i went with foot clutch on mine, i bought another black clamp. drill the matching holes on both peices a size larger to accept your mirror. works like a charm.

i just double checked. thats the part number listed for the stock black clamp that would work for the clutch lever perch or master cylinder. getting the number from the 2006 touring catalog but they are the same for quite a few years.
i just googled that part number and there are several references.

Went to the dealership this weekend for this clamp and other things. Found out it's just the same clamp. I guess I was expecting something made for my bike when removing the clutch perch. Looking at it more, I figured I could go with this clamp. The only thing is the screws wouldn't have anything to screw in to since it's the same clamp. Guy at the parts counter told me to just get a longer torx bolt and use an acorn nut on the other side. Done and done.
I'd still like to see what you came up with if you have any pics.
