Default gas cap lock??

Gas cap lock quit working... Had trouble getting it open on the last couple fill ups.. Today it wouldn't open. PERIOD. tried both keys, nothing.

Ended up prying it open with a small flathead. Even after getting it open the key wouldn't turn it. Broke the plastic thing sticking out of the lock mechanism...

Any one have an extra lying around?? lol

The gas lock is a POS anyway. Pickup the push button, it will take a couple of minutes to install and you will be much happier.

Yeah, replace with the push button, you'll like it.

Yep, I have one of those locks out in garage somewhere, seeing as I took the darn thing off and put a push button on. I'd send it to you, but that means I would have to look for it!!!!

Gonna take it by the dealer and see if they will fix it... If not, I'll probably spring for the push button.

Thanks for the offers....

I got so darn tired of digging in my pocket on the way to daytona for the cover key every tim I stopped for gas. I stopped at Bruce Rossmyers's in Ormon Beach and bought the button for $27; I replaced it in the parking lot; it took about 5 minutes....it was the best $27 I ever spent...highly recommend it......

Everyone's barrel key will fit yours....so it's not like it keeps your gas safe anyway....:-)

The most gas I'll lose is 6 gallons...I can afford that....

I guess you could argue there is a risk someone will pour a coke in your gas tank....I guess I'm taking that risk.....

It really is pretty useless. It's not really set up for your key, any round key will work. When I bought my bike the salesman pulled out his key and opened the gas cap on my new bike.

Default Been lucky

I guess that I've been real lucky with my gas cap. Never had a problem with the original but I have read a lot of threads on these forums stating that guys have had them break.
I can't believe that Harley hasn't done something to resolve this problem.
