Im lucky if I ever hit 40 mpg, although it has done better since I changed the mufflers, A/C and put on the Fuel Pak. Im leaving tomorrow for Sturgis so I will see what happens. I don't know whether I should go 75 mph and stop more for gas, or go slower and stop less.

Go fast to get there & slow to get home & compare this diffrence in MPG!
i just did an experiment on this same subject.I have an 03 eg with 510 ss cams, stage one air cleaner system, otherwise stock. I made 3 200 mile trips in a row to the same location, on the same roads. Its a fact for my bike that the closer to 3000 rpms I ride the worse millage I get. At 70 mph I get around 38 mpg, at 65 mph I get 40-42, and at 60 mph I get 44-46. I even filled up at the same gas stations.
Sorry, I thought I could copy this and the colums do line up in message but not here. Anyway last # shows how much MPG can vary depending on various factors. First leg I ran out and had to tip the bike to get off I-80 and into the gas station, 5.3 gal in 5 gal tank. Bike was tipped when getting gas and I didn't get a good fill which almost left me stranded, not really I had a qt. of gas w me, LOL.
Haven't checked my new 08 Ultra yet for mpg's.
I know with my 99' RoadStar 1600cc 98ci Air cooled n belt driven, LongShot pipes, Hyper Charger Air and some single carb tunin I was amazed to hit 50 mpg's often (if i behaved that is). And that scoot runs on regular unleaded to boot.
I suspect in the Ultras case, it will be the price ya pay for comfy.
